• July, 2019 – Short Research Stay (Mexico – Colombia): Hugo Alfonso Rojas Sarmiento (Catalysis research group leader at the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia) visited the Catalysis group at the Instituto de física (Departamento de Física Química). This research center is adscribe to Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). During 7 days the Dr. Hugo Alfonso Rojas Sarmiento developed some activities related to the characterization of catalysts and reaction systems assembly for the production of Hydrogen from decomposition of methanol using mixture oxides hydrotalcite type.

February, 2019 – Research Stay (Spain – Colombia): Sandra Patricia Chaparro Acuña (PhD student at the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia) visited the research group NANOVAL at the Universidad de Cordoba – Spain. During five months the PhD student developed experimentals process and synthesis of catalysts related to the execution of the project reference SGI 2356 “Optimización de la amidacion del ácido succínico usando carbonato de calcio biogénico”. Also, during her research estance the student participated in the event titled “Catálisis para el Futuro” in the Universidad de Cordoba – Spain in poster mode as principal author.


March, 2019 – Resarch Stay (Spain – Colombia): Adriana Elizabeth Lara Sandoval (PhD student at the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia) has visited the Catálisis y Energía Laboratory of the Instituto de Técnicas Energéticas at the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña – Barcelona in Spain. During six months the PhD student learned about different characterization techniques and experimental process of design photocatalyst related to the development of the Project reference SGI 2344 “Evaluación de sistemas Pt/TiO2-Nb2O5 en el reformado fotocatalítico de glucosa para la generación de H2 a partir de efluentes de la industria de confitería”.

• October, 2018 - Short research stay (Mexico – Colombia): Ignacio Alfonso Alvarado Ortega (undergraduate studetn at the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia) has visited the Grupo Ecocatálisis at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana – Itztapalapa (UAM-I). During 30 days the undergraduate student realized the physicochemical characterization of different photocatalyst related to the development of the Project reference SGI 2397 “Reducción fotocatalítica de compuestos nitroaromáticos sustituidos empleando fotocatalizadores de NiO/TiO2-F y NiO/MgAl-HT: estudio del efecto del soporte fotocatalítico”.

June 2018 – Short research stay (Portugal – Colombia): Oscar Hernando Pardo Cuervo (PhD student at the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia) has worked in the laboratory of Faculty of Pharmacy at the Universidad de Lisboa-Portugal. During five months the PhD student was able to learn different analytical techniques, experimental procedures, including flow chemistry and simultaneous accomplished the study tat allowed to build a very efficient methodology related to the develop of the project “valorization of hydroxymethyl furfural (HMF).


November 2017 – Short research stay (Mexico – Colombia): Viviana Patricia López Cárdenas (Msc student at the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia) visited the Catalysis group at the Instituto de física (Departamento de Física Química), this research center is adscribe to Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). During 30 days the Msc student developed different activities as characterization of materials and reactions design related to the development of the project of her magister research.


April 2016 - Research exchange (Mexico – Colombia): Dr. Luciano Antonio Gómez Cortes adscribed to the Universidad Autónoma de México (UNAM) visited the Grupo de catálisis of the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia, this stay was realized as a part of the research agreement between these universities


January 2016 - Research exchange (Mexico – Colombia): Dr. Ramiro Baeza adscribed to Centro conjunto de Investigación en Química Sustentable (Área Ingeniería Química), adscribe to Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEM) visited the Grupo de catálisis of Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia, this stay was realized as a part of the research agreement between these universities. Currently, the research Project reference SGI 1709: “Develop of selective process in the glycerol oxidation (Desarrollo de procesos selectivos para la oxidación de glycerol)” has been developed by researches from UPTC and UAEM. This project has received financial support from Colombia and Mexico.

November 2016 – Short research stay (Mexico – Colombia): Elsa Giovanna Ávila Martínez (MsC student at the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia) has visited the Centro conjunto de Investigación en Química Sustentable (Área Ingeniería Química), this research center is adscribe to Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEM). During 30 days the MsC student was performed different experimental activities related to the development of the Project reference SGI 1709 “Develop of selective process in the glycerol oxidation (Desarrollo de procesos selectivos para la oxidación de glycerol)”. This project is currently financed by UAEM and UPTC

December 2015Research exchange (Mexico – Colombia): Dr. Gabriela Alicia Díaz Guerrero adscribed to the Universidad Autónoma de México (UNAM) visited the Grupo de catálisis of the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia, this stay was realized as a part of the research agreement between these universities.

August-November 2015 – Short research stay (Argentina – Colombia): Dr. José Jobanny Martínez, ascribed to Grupo de Catálisis of the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia has been awarded with a OEA grant. He has visited the Universidad Nacional de la Plata, Argentina.

June 2015 – Short research stay (Mexico): Dr. Jairo Antonio Cubillos Lobo, ascribed to Grupo de Catálisis of the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia (UPTC), have visited “Laboratorio de Investigación de Catálisis del Instituto de Física de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) – Mexico”, this short research stay was financed by an academic cooperation between UNAM-UPTC, as a result of the project “Hidrogenación selectiva de aldehídos y cetona αβ insaturados y de compuestos nitroaromáticos utilizando catalizadores bimetálicos soportados (Selective hydrogenation of unsaturaded aldehydes and αβ-ketones and nitro-aromatics compounds using supported bimetallic catalysts)”.

March 2015 – Short research stay (Spain – Colombia): Dr. Julie Joseane Murcia Mesa, Dr. Gloria Borda Guerra and Dr. Hugo Alfonso Rojas Sarmiento, all of them ascribed to Grupo de Catálisis of the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia, have visited the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Sevilla (ICMS) – Spain, this short research stay was financed by Colciencias, as a result of the project “Catalizadores nanoestructurados para aplicaciones ambientales y producción de compuestos de química fina (Nanostructured catalysts for environmental applications and fine chemistry compounds production)”.
